General Information

Willamette Education Service District is accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) School Nurse Consultant position with the Special Education Department. This may be based in Marion, Polk and/or Yamhill counties. The selected candidate will work a 190-day calendar and will begin immediately upon conclusion of the hiring process.

Duties and Responsibilities
Plans and implements appropriate Health Management Plans and Health Alerts for eligible children assigned to caseload
Provides service in accordance with the scope of practice. (Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules)
Provides service coordination to parents and children for referral to other agencies around health care issues as needed
Provides in-service training and follow-up to children, teachers, and parents around children’s healthcare needs, and promotes public awareness of WESD
Participates in appropriate conferences with district staff, agencies, special programs staff, and parents to carry out services
Provides parents, teachers, districts and others with materials and information as needed
Maintains confidential student records as required by district, WESD, state, and federal guidelines
Completes required paperwork in a timely manner
Plans for, and participates in, professional growth activities in area of specialty
Attends staff meetings, scheduled in-service activities, and program development committee meetings
Maintains positive and effective communication with supervisor, program staff, schools, parents, and other agencies
Participates as a member of the IEP team, conducting assessments and evaluations of eligible children, to facilitate their health and safety in educational settings
Develops, maintains, and appropriately distributes schedule for serving assigned children and schools
Assists in transitions for children leaving a hospital or self-contained classroom to a less restrictive environment. Provides consultation, as requested, to district's other nursing staff
Performs other duties as assigned

Valid Oregon State Board of Nursing License required, optional Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Certificate
Experience working in a school setting preferred
Must have completed a course of study and or demonstrated successful experience directly relating to specific assignment
Reliable transportation for itinerant responsibilities
Nationwide criminal history check and fingerprinting at employee’s expense are required

Salary and Benefits *
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) licensed position represented by the Willamette Valley Education Association.
Placement on the Willamette ESD licensed salary schedule, $36,580 - $61,881**, will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, experience and prorated according to start date. Salary and benefits shown are based upon full-time employment (1.0 FTE) for the entire school year contract period.

Willamette ESD will support payment for health, dental and vision insurance premiums for qualified employees. Employer-paid PERS, holidays, sick leave, and personal days are also provided to qualified employees.

Stipends **
Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Specialists are eligible for a $2,400 stipend.
WESD employees who hold “Special Education” licensure by TSPC, or are State Board licensed, including clinical social workers, and are case managing or providing services as required in IEPs or IFSPs will receive a stipend of $1,200 annually.
A moving stipend is available for new employees hired to fill positions designated as “hard to fill.” Moves of 50 to 200 miles will qualify for a $1,000 stipend, and moves of more than 200 miles will qualify for a $2,000 stipend.
