The postdoc will oversee the day-to-day management of the project, in consultation with the project PIs, and will lead research efforts related to data base management, laboratory analyses, data synthesis and analysis, and publication of results in peer-review journals. Duties and Responsibilities:

- Adheres to University and department policies, procedures, and regulations
- Day-to-day project management, including supervision of graduate students and research technicians working on the project
- Identification of deep water ichthyoplankton and zooplankton of the Gulf of Mexico, including the training of others in such identification
- Project data base management
- Data synthesis and analysis
- Preparation of project reports and peer-review manuscripts
The successful candidate must have a doctorate degree in biological/fisheries oceanography or a related field, and a demonstrated ability in publishing results in the peer-reviewed literature. Applicants should have a strong quantitative background, including multivariate statistical approaches.
Preferred qualifications include: experience in ichthyoplankton or zooplankton taxonomy and identification, particularly mesopelagic taxa; previous research experience related to plankton trophic ecology; and experience managing large databases.
