SUMMARY

The Credit Analyst Intern will work with the Ag-focused credit delivery team which includes Loan Officers ("LOs"), Portfolio Managers ("PMs") or Credit Analyst II ("CA II") and Client Service Specialists ("CSS"). The Intern will assist with gathering and analyzing routine credit information on current and potential borrowers; assists PM or CA II on new money requests. The Credit Analyst Intern will be exposed to commonly used credit concepts, practices, and procedures and gain a general understanding of credit and Ag-lending processes. The Credit Analyst Intern will follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under general supervision. Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. This is a paid internship; however students must arrange their own housing and transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assists in gathering data from customers, internal and outside sources; prepares spreadsheets and analyzes financial information including financial statements and tax returns.

Assists with periodic review of customer loan files.

Becomes familiar with the bank’s loan policy, procedures and underwriting guidelines.

Develops knowledge of agricultural economy, market commodity conditions, rates, vendors and competition.

May participate in weekly team meetings and management loan committee meetings.

Assists in coordinating and processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to loan approval, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies.

Accompanies loan officers and/or portfolio managers on client farm site visits.

Gains a general understanding of loan documentation including notes, guarantees, mortgages and security agreements.

Works on projects assigned by the Chief Credit Officer.

Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.

Operates computer terminal or personal computer to obtain and process data.

Answers telephones, answers questions and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.

This position is not responsible for the supervision of any employees.

Seeking basic experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.

Seeking Basic knowledge of commercial, agricultural, construction, real estate and consumer loan processing.

Seeking Basic knowledge of related state and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.

Basic keyboarding skills and computer skills; skills word processing and spreadsheet software.

Basic math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.

Ability to deal with normal problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

Current Wisconsin driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
