This position is responsible for championing the organization’s community engagement strategy, including marketing and communications, event management, public relations, fund development, and volunteer engagement, that leads to strong community awareness of the organization, growing donor relationships, and exceeding fundraising goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned .
Builds broad public awareness of The YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade brand
Designs, stewards, and implements the ongoing communications and strategic engagement plan of the agency aligned to short, medium and long term goals;
Achieves the agency’s objectives by strategically creating, integrating and successfully deploying the YWCA’s wide range of communications and outreach capabilities, as printed publications, brochures, annual reports, briefing papers, and fact sheets, website, e-newsletter, and social media;
Oversees publicity, advertising, public information programs, awards, and promotional activities;
Cultivates external local and national media relations, including opportunities for YW leaders to participate in interviews, articles, and opinions; and cultivates and maintains favorable media relations
Communicates effectively and persuasively with board members under the direction of the CEO
Works with program team to develop responsive, creative strategies to address challenges that impede the successful growth of programs or initiatives, and contributes to a team-oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages innovation
Ensures that the YWCA’s engagement strategy fully align and strengthen the agency’s relationships, mission, policy agenda, program investments, and partnerships
Develops and facilitates positive and effective relationships with public, private, corporate, philanthropic, and nonprofit sector partners to advance the agency’s goals and build the image, including the YWCA’s current and future programs and initiatives
Targets and cultivates new mission-aligned audiences
Develops a menu of engagement strategies to grow the membership and donor base, to include social media, workshops, volunteer opportunities, collaborations, interactives, etc.
Strengthens the YWCA’s membership development program, increasing awareness of the YWCA within the community and grow the overall number of members.
Identifies community relations issues and problems that have an adverse effect on Agency’s programs and work with CEO and Communications team to address
Creates, coordinates, and executes all community engagement events marketing/communications strategies, including local events and programming initiatives
Monitors the success of community engagement and marketing strategies and makes course corrections in order to meet the established goals in each area.
Works with all committees and volunteers to ensure goals and branding of organization’s work is incorporated into every opportunity
Brings new and exciting ideas to the organization, and is capable of listening to insight from team members and testing new initiatives, and ignites responses in the current team
Works cross-functionally across the organization to create accessible, evocative content for use in a variety of communications and marketing materials, with an emphasis on cutting-edge, entrepreneurial approaches including social media
Maintains ongoing donor database information on all members, donors, volunteers, vendors, and stakeholders.
Mentors volunteers to ensure suitable training, knowledge, and passion in representation of YWCA at community and fundraising events is evident.
Creates effective system for volunteer engagement, managing diverse volunteer community interests and resources; facilitating productive relations among staff, volunteers, and clients; protecting against volunteer-related liabilities; and ensuring that volunteers connects with the organization’s strategic goals.
Develop a system for volunteer recruitment, recognition, and awards.
Works with the Board, under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, to increase and deepen corporate and philanthropic relationships.
Works with the Development Committee, Membership Committee and Board of Directors, as directed by the CEO, to develop strategies to initiate and meet ambitious fundraising goals.
Designs and coordinates dynamic community outreach and fundraising activities.
Develops fundraising training for all levels of volunteers and staff.
Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board and other agencies and attends Board meetings as needed.
Develops and drives the agency’s annual fundraising campaign
Creates collateral materials to support the organization’s ability to raise unrestricted funds
Identifies annual revenue goals and analyzes progress towards those goals.
Works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, staff, and volunteers to assist them in their fundraising activities.
Develops and implements strategies for cultivating and soliciting prospects, including board members and honorees for benefit receptions and manages a system for tracking prospects.
Identifies new funding sources for the agency through corporate giving, foundations, and government entities.
Maintains financial records and adheres to project budgets and agency’s policies and procedures Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited college/university in Public Health or Public Administration preferred; Social Work, Human Services, Counseling Services, Social Services, or other related field combined with (3) to five (5) years of related experience preferably in a related non-profit environment and Wellness related or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of community resources, grant writing and budget management. Master’s Degree preferred. Should have experience with financial education programs, saving plans, wellness, women’s health, health disparities, etc. Considerable knowledge of local, state, federal and non-profit resources available to the local citizenry. Must have the ability to make public presentations. Case management experience with low income households preferred. Requires level 2 background clearance, and drug testing.
