The incumbent also coordinates all aspects of the patient transportation within the Medical Center and all related clerical duties necessary for the operation of these programs. The incumbent provides oversight and direction to all patient workers/volunteers assigned to the Patient Assistance Program within the Recreation Therapy and Voluntary Service.
Major Duties Include:
Receives and processes applicants for the Patient Assistance Program.
Makes or assists in making the determination as to the patient's eligibility for clothing issuance and personal services.
Copies and files documentation, and/or enters information into the computer system.
Responds to technical questions regarding patient's rights and responsibilities with regards to eligibility for services.
Administers and coordinates all aspects of patient transport within the medical center and all clerical duties necessary for the operation of Escort Unit.
Provides orientation, continuous training and evaluation of assigned Escort workers.
Safeguards all equipment assigned to the Escort Unit by maintaining a sign-out/ sign-in book.
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls to the Escort Unit and directs requests to the appropriate resource.

The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilates. Uses required personal protective equipment or performing a work procedure in conflict to Medical Center policies.
Time-in-grade: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
