Under supervision of nursing staff, is responsible for the assessment and direct care of patients on hemodialysis.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity

  • Under the delegation of the Medical Director and under nursing supervision:

    • a. Administer normal saline solution via the extracorporeal system

    • b. Administer per initiation of hemodialysis procedure 2% xylocaine subcutaneously
    • c.Administer via the extracorporeal system and/or via the cannulated access site the anticoagulant heparin in the dose prescribed by the physician and monitored by the nursing staff

  • Reports to the Nurse Manager of the assigned dialysis unit

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Associate’s Degree in Science required, or at least 4 years of certified dialysis clinical tech experience, preferably in Henry Ford Health System – Greenfield Health Systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science preferred
  • Certification as dialysis technician must be obtained within designated time lines and certification must be maintained in accordance with federal regulations
