The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Our programs help participants successfully transition from incarceration to stable and productive lives. Across the United States, over 5,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that support themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s has grown into the leading national reentry employment organization in the country. Through CEO, over 17,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. Over the past 5 years, CEO expanded nationally into thirteen cities in New York, California, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, and will continue to grow further in the next three years.

Who We’re Looking For

CEO is looking to hire an Outreach Specialist who will serve as the face of the organization within New York State’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision , developing and deepening relationships with parole officers, providing them with information about our work, and building their commitment to referring a strong pipeline of participants for our programs.

The Outreach Specialist meets with parole officers,facilitates program referral for prospective clients,, leads presentations about our serviceofferings, and shares feedback with parole officers about t client progress at CEO. As an Outreach Specialist gains experience, insight, and knowledge, there is the opportunity to develop and pioneer new systems for strengthening and improving these relationships.

What You’ll Bring:
Demonstrated commitment to CEO’s mission and interest in working in a fast-growing and results-oriented nonprofit environment
Bachelor’s degree (ideally with a focus in criminal justice, public administration, psychology, social work, or a related liberal arts field)
1-3 years of relevant experience
Must be able to travel throughout the five (5) boroughs, stand for long periods of time, and walk up and down stairs
Experience providing feedback and guidance to help clients or constituents strengthen their knowledge and skills
Deep interest in re-entry or criminal justice reform preferred
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Ability to take into account and analyze various points of view and data to form a perspective appropriate to a particular context
Ability to ascertain the priorities of a particular individual or group and craft persuasive written or verbal communication given those priorities.

Perks and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $40,000-42,000. Salary is commensurate with demonstrated experience and abilities. In addition, team members can receive health coverage, paid parental leave, access to a retirement plan, sick and vacation time, paid holidays, and more.
