Job Description:

Job Duties:

  • Provide prompt and courteous response to tenant requests within the guidelines set forth by the company
  • Maintain ethical, professional and courteous relations with contractors and tenants
  • Perform as a team member with all company and client employees as well as client contract service providers
  • Assist to ensure compliance with all City, State, and Federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations
  • Order, stock and inventory parts and supplies as directed by the Engineering Manager or Assistant Engineering Manager
  • Induce water treatment chemicals at proper amounts and times in heating and cooling systems
  • Perform chemical analysis tests as set forth by the supervisor, reporting any abnormalities and substandard results
  • Operate, maintain, and repair (except when specific maintenance and repairs are performed by contractors) all electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and MEP equipment as outlined by supervisors including, but not limited to:
  • Chillers
  • Cooling Towers
  • Pumping systems
  • Boilers
  • Water treatment systems
  • Air handling and fan systems

  • Assume additional duties as delegated by Engineering Manager, Assistant engineering Manager, and Lead Engineer
  • Willing to work all hours, days, and shifts as assigned by Engineering Manager, Assistant Engineering Manager, and Lead Engineer


  • Current City of Detroit 1st Class refrigeration Operator’s License for all halogenated refrigerants
  • EPA Refrigerant Recovery Universal Certification
  • Must pass and obtain certification for use of self-contained breathing apparatus and must maintain facial hair in a manner for proper fit and use
  • Lift 50lns. or more
  • Climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work from raise platforms (i.e. scaffolding, mechanical lifting equipment)

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial HVAC
  • Experience operating large tonnage chiller plant
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of mandatory Continuum Engineering training programs within prescribed time frame
  • Intermediate user knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools
  • Knowledge of power tools
  • Ability to use deductive logic for troubleshooting equipment
  • Read and use all types of test equipment, analog/digital multi-meters, pressure and temperature indicating and recording devices, air flow and quality measuring devices, and leak detection devices
  • Read and understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form , including shop manuals and drawings

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors – 80%
  • Outdoors – 20%

Shifts include:

  • Tuesday – Saturday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Wednesday - Thursday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • Saturday - Tuesday is a 10 hour shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $34.54 to $35.00 /hour

Required education:

  • High school or equivalent

Required experience:

  • HVAC: 2 years
