Department of Surgery:
Operating since 1927 on a strong foundation of multidisciplinary clinical and academic excellence, the University of Chicago Department of Surgery's mission is to meet the most challenging and complex health problems on both a local and global scale.

Among the Department's numerous accomplishments, many of our faculty members are known for their contributions to the advancement of groundbreaking surgical procedures and techniques, including minimally invasive surgery. In addition to our department's clinical work, our scientists aggressively pursue a diverse range of basic, translational and clinical research projects, including studies on the gut microbiome, tissue bioengineering, stem cell research, cancer and immunotolerance.

This ongoing work and achievement would not be possible without the cohesive effort and commitment of the faculty and staff. We are looking for high energy, collaborative individuals who share our commitment to improving the health of patients in the community and beyond.

Urology:
Our renowned urologic surgeons oversee a broad range of surgical care programs, designed to thoroughly care for adults and children with complex urologic disease including urologic cancers in the bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicular regions. Further, our surgeons offer female urologic procedures including reconstruction, prolapse repair, salvage and urodynamics, among others.
In addition to offering a wide range of surgical options, our experts are world leaders in robotic surgical techniques that enhance surgical and aesthetic outcomes for many urologic patients.

The Section of Urology is also home to many busy laboratories, many of which are supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and other major governmental and nongovernmental entities. With a special focus on cancer, our urologists are continually working toward discovering better ways to treat patients with urologic disease. This ongoing work and achievement would not be possible without the cohesive effort of the faculty and staff. We are always looking for individuals who are willing to work in our dynamic and collaborative environment toward the shared goal of improving the health of patients in our community and beyond.

Pediatric General Surgery:
The faculty and staff in the Section of Pediatric General Surgery at the University of Chicago Medicine are nationally renowned for their vast expertise in myriad childhood diseases and unmatched patient care. Our pediatric surgeons utilize state-of-the-art technology and techniques not found at other institutions, but more importantly they are committed to providing warm, compassionate care to infants through teenagers and their families.

The section's accredited fellowship program prepares pediatric surgeons to provide minimally invasive and tissue sparing procedures, and the section's research has led to groundbreaking discoveries across a wide spectrum, including new knowledge on vascular tumor growth. The research is supported by the National Institutes of Health.
