Since 1971, Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, children, seniors and people with disabilities in the north and east King County, WA. With service centers in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Shoreline and Sno-Valley (Carnation), we are the largest nonprofit organization in the area. Hopelink programs and services focus on five key areas: food, financial assistance, housing & family development, adult education & employment and transportation/mobility. Programs are aimed at helping people achieve stability, and helping them gain the skills and knowledge they need to exit poverty for good.
The Food Bank Coordinator provides coordination of the food program at a specific center; provides guidance, direction, and supervision to volunteer staff. Responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food from multiple sources, maintains food bank inventory and overall cleanliness of food bank. Performs client intake, determines client eligibility, and provides appropriate information and referral.
Essential Functions: Responsible for the operation of the food bank (daytime & 1 weekly evening food bank), including set-up, operation and clean up. Maintains food inventory; knowledgeable about current food supplies and rotation of stock. Utilizes an inventory database to assist with food related data and reports. Responsible for weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food from multiple sources. Supervises and oversees food pick-ups at grocery stores; acts as backup driver as needed. Recruits, trains, organizes, assigns, and supervises volunteers. Schedules volunteers to ensure necessary support of food bank operations. Interacts with donors and helps organize community food drives. Greets donors; accepts cash and in-kind donations; issues receipts as needed. Maintains cleanliness and order of the food bank. Conducts initial phone screening with potential clients and obtains all relevant information. During intake appointment, determines eligibility for food services. Develops strong knowledge of available services within Hopelink. Supports Integrated Service Delivery goal by connecting client with other appropriate Hopelink services. Ensures follow-up with clients referred by internal Hopelink programs in order to provide continuous, integrated service delivery. Develops working knowledge of available services in the larger community. Provides information and referrals to other community resources and programs for visitors and clients. Maintains and updates paper and electronic client files as needed including direct data entry of client information during intake. Assists Center Manager in data collection and preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual summary reports. Required Qualifications: Intermediate level proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to lift 60 pounds repetitively.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Services, Business, or related field. Two years experience working with low-income families. Bi-lingual skills helpful (Spanish preferred).
