Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures provides legal/general support to the firm's attorneys and their clients. Must be familiar with and observe the firm's established policies and guidelines. Must maintain positive contact with attorneys (both the firm's and outside counsel), support staff, clients and vendors. Observes confidentiality of client and firm matters. The candidate filling this position will work closely with associates and partners on all aspects of their practice as part of a close-knit team, and based upon demonstrated ability, will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibilities and increasingly advanced tasks as they grow into the position. This position is not limited to the functions and skills listed on this description and responsibilities may be revised as needed.

Essential Functions

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage various projects and assignments;

Ability to assist attorneys and/or paralegals in preparing correspondence, documents and other legal materials;

Good communication skills;

Ability to work and learn independently and meet deadlines;

Ability to interact well with attorneys, staff and clients;

Ability to review and summarize factual information and documents

Ability to be a proactive team member

Familiarity with basic legal processes and terminology a plus

Ability to learn to assist with preparation for an attendance at trials and court hearings; and

Excellent writing and proofreading skills.



College degree required; a paralegal certification is also required for a Tier I paralegal title/position.


Candidate with about 1-2 years of law or financial business office experience a plus.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to organize and prioritize issues and workload. The ability to work on projects independently or with little supervision. Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities. Exercising independent judgment and initiative.

Personal computer and other office equipment, such as, telephone, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine and so on.

Physical Demands:

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines.

Mental Demands:

Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks. Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels.


Works in a typical office setting. Often called upon to work overtime. Willingness and capacity to occasionally travel to offsite locations.
