Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park. Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

This position is located at the LSC-System Office, University Park location at 20515 SH 249 (SH 249 and Louetta Road) Houston, Texas 77070-2607.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, this position is responsible for searching, and editing bibliographic records for print and non print materials for import into the LSC online catalog. Physically process library materials as needed. Maintain and ensure the quality of the library catalog.

Job Functions:
Perform complex copy cataloging of materials using OCLC and the LSC library system, Symphony
Maintain and update bibliographic records and item records in the library system
Edit and print spine labels for material processing
Compile monthly and annual statistics for cataloging
Assist with original cataloging and problem books as time permits
Monitor processed material for accuracy and completeness
Assist with departmental task as needed

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Expert knowledge of general office practices and procedures
Basic knowledge of Microsoft products
Demonstrated attention to details
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
Ability to work cooperatively and independently in a team oriented environment
Ability to perform repetitive task for long periods of time
Ability to lift resources weighing approximately 20 pounds

Physical Abilities:
Minimal physical effort is required


Work Schedule & Conditions:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
A 19.5 hour work week between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday


High school diploma or equivalent
Two or more years copy cataloging

Bachelor’s degree
