General Description

This position is part of the clinical team. This position is responsible for providing patients with friendly, efficient and timely delivery of Provider prescribed medications that have been filled by a licensed Pharmacist. Includes communication with insurance companies and involvement with problem solving and troubleshooting. In accordance with HIPAA regulations, this position requires full access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Such disclosure is necessary to perform the requirements of the job. Confidentiality of PHI must be maintained.

Essential Duties

Provide positive impression, through words and tone, to patients, visitors, and employees presenting to the clinic areas.

Actively engages and finds ways to assist by interacting face to face with public and staff.

Operate cash register, handle cash and other tenders of payment such as vouchers, debit and credit cards, and balance registers.

Answer telephone, respond to questions and requests, and seek guidance from a coworker or supervisor, if assistance is needed.

Receive patient prescriptions and data entry.

Order and actively shelve inventory.

Accurately count medications (Eyecon counts).

Bill and, if necessary, troubleshoot prescription insurance claims.

Assists pharmacist with medication adherence program (SimpleSync) and MTM completion.

Manages multiple Sync patients and ensures they get the necessary medications each month.

Perform all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with organization policies and procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.

Enthusiasm for working as a member of a team in a rapidly changing environment.

Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Windows, databases, graphs and the ability to write reports and correspondence by using proficient grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Must be able to document in a neat, legible manner and be able to spell medical terminology correctly.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with staff, patients, insurance companies, and vendors.
