This is a TEMPORARY, PART-TIME position, scheduled 20 hours per week. It begins Upon Hire and is expected to run through June of 2018.

The Temporary Program Assistant serves as a lead for the operational activities at the IMA Building during evening and weekend hours. Using a comprehensive knowledge of department policies and procedures, they will work independently and use sound judgement in making appropriate decisions.

The following represents a variety of the responsibilities assigned to the person in this position. The examples represent typical work, but are not intended to be inclusive of all duties required for this position:

Lead the operational activities for the IMA Building and associated facilities during evening and weekend hours consistent with established department use policy, rules and regulations.

Collect and lead collection of IMA Building user fees in accordance with established procedures. Monitor security of sales transaction receipts.

Serve as general contact for building operations staff during, including the men’s and women’s locker rooms, first aid room, lifeguards, intramurals and club sports, and other operations staff.

Assist with first aid response procedures for the IMA Building and associated facilities (e.g., fields, tennis courts, etc.).

Coordinate emergency response procedures for the IMA Building and associated facilities (e.g., fields, tennis courts, etc.).

Complete facility inspection logs and reports. Initiate appropriate action to correct facility activity space and equipment use safety problems (e.g., open or closed area). Recommend facility maintenance to be performed.

Implement both opening and closing routines for the IMA Building. Maintain facility security.

Enforce institutional and facility use rules and regulations (e.g., identification checks, shoe policy, music policy, etc.).

Resolve facility use conflicts (e.g., court reservation conflicts, patron use conflicts, etc.).

Assist with coordinating and monitoring special events/sports camps, including directing participant/spectators, activity area set-up/take down, and working a varied schedule to meet event needs.

Complete department reports as necessary, e.g. theft, incident, accident, monthly/quarterly reports, etc.

Create building signage e.g. holiday hours, room schedules, special events.

Coordinate routine cleaning/maintenance projects (student staff).

Assist facility users in a helpful and courteous manner.

Work cooperatively with other members of the UW Recreation staff in the interest of providing a comprehensive program of recreational sports activities designed to meet the needs and interest of the University community.

High school graduation or equivalent.

Previous experience in a University Recreation setting.

CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (may be trained after employment).

Possess interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and colleagues.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
