The Partner Engagement Manager for the joint Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and Harvard Business School (HBS) Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders works closely with colleagues at HGSE, HBS, and HBX to generate interest for a new, innovative online program for principals. S/he works to develop and deepen relationships with school districts, state departments of education, educational service agencies, and foundations to expand the reach and impact of the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders by building relationships with key constituents. S/he will be responsible for managing and tracking outreach and engagement for the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders and reporting on progress in building new and sustaining existing relationships. To ensure alignment and contextual association with the overall set of education-leadership offerings from HGSE, s/he will also conduct outreach and engagement for the broader HGSE Professional Education (PPE) portfolio of programs.

The Partner Engagement Manager will report to PPE’s Director of Outreach and Engagement. S/he will work with HGSE’s Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Engagement, the faculty leads for the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders, the director of The Principals’ Center, PPE’s senior leadership, PPE’s Marketing group, as well as marketing and outreach professionals at HBS and HBX, to understand the school leadership market and to best serve their needs; to plan and manage outreach strategies; and to develop and implement cost-effective initiatives that expand market opportunities for the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders and to serve school leaders through programs and resources at HGSE.

The Partner Engagement Manager will develop and implement strategy for relationship building and maintenance, outreach, and business development for the both existing and prospective clients for the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders and other sectors, audiences, and organizations served by HGSE’s professional education offerings. The Manager creates long-term, sustained enrollment pipelines for the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders and other PPE programs, both residential and online. Key responsibilities include:
Provide leadership in the development of new relationships and the deepening of existing relationships with school system leaders, educational agencies, non-profit organizations, foundations, and other institutions that will increase enrollment in the Online Leadership and Management Certificate for School Leaders and other PPE programs.
Develop close partnerships with HBS, HBX, and HGSE colleagues to determine the most effective strategy to conduct outreach.
Provide input to HGSE and PPE senior leadership to identify high-priority, high-impact offerings that engage, serve, and sustain relationships among client districts and other educational organizations of high strategic value.
Develop a deep understanding of the professional development market for school leaders.
Based upon market knowledge and relationships, provide input into program pricing and subscription-based business models that will enable sustained relationships with state agencies, school systems, and other institutions.
Collaborate with other HGSE offices in developing strategic partnerships, all toward achieving PPE’s goals and enhancing the participant experience. Work with others at HBS, HBX, and HGSE to help develop strategies and systems to track relationships with schools, districts, NGO and non-profit organizations, etc.
Supervise temporary employees and interns, as necessary. This is a full-time, one-year term position with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis.
BA/BS required, minimum four years’ professional experience in the education sector developing and executing strategic business development initiatives, including effective long-term relationship management practices. Occasional travel, for relationship-building purposes, may be required. A writing sample will be required for all qualified candidates.
