Job Summary

The Chesterfield Power Station is a multi-unit power station combining coal-fired units and combined cycle natural gas-fired units in Chesterfield County, Virginia, with a net generating capacity of approximately 1,675 Megawatts. The Chesterfield Power Station is located on Coxendale Road in Chester, VA, Near the Dutch Gap Conservation Area and Henricus Historical Park.

The qualified intern candidate will work as a project coordinator supporting all manner of capital projects necessary to maintain operation of a diverse unit power station. Work may include engineering, accounting, scheduling, resource management, and maintenance aspects of a capital project > $250K. The incumbent will work under the direction of a Dominion Energy project management lead on site.

Specific duties will depend upon the project phase and skill level of the incumbent. The work will typically include:

Interacting with and attending meetings with Dominion staff, engineering consultants and construction contractors.

Assisting with managing the relationship with customers (the station leadership team) as well as ensuring the project provides the optimal business and technical solution to station issues.

Assisting with developing the station 6-year capital project plan, to include development of business cases, project request form creation, and estimates.

Assisting in obtaining data and utilizing Excel to produce reports to confirm productivity.

Assisting in walking down completed work in preparation for system turnover.

Assisting in review, witness and signoff of system check sheets for system turnover.

Assisting with obtaining funding authorization and providing monthly and annual forecasts for each project, monitoring project expenditures, and validating and reconciling vendor invoices.

Ensuring all elements of the Contractor Safety Program are met and monitoring safety on all projects.

Assisting with ensuring contractor compliance with site environmental guidelines and obtaining advance approval from the site Environmental Compliance Coordinator for materials and chemicals (i.e., concrete, oil, cleaner, lubricant, etc.) prior to allowing material on site.

Maintains project electronic files.

Performing other duties as requested or assigned by the project manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Qualifications : Must have an anticipated graduation date between May 2019 and May 2020/Pursuing a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or Construction Management; AND have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; 3.0 or higher preferred.
