Brief Description of Duties
Incumbent functions as Mail Clerk and Document Reproduction Technician in the David A. Clarke School of Law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sorts outgoing mail according to sender's request, i.e. 1st class, certified, priority, express, return receipt.
- Tracks outgoing mail by departments, and clinics.
- Determines correct postage/fees and applies to the mail and packages.
- Keeps track of postage used and alerts management when postage falls below safety amount level
- Only uses postage on official law school and University of the District of Columbia mail and packages
- Keeps postage machine secure at all times to prevent unauthorized use.
- Makes mail ready for pick up daily as established by USPS.
- Delivers mail to post office as required by USPS
- Maintains shipping supplies as needed by the law school and order additional supplies as needed.
- Schedule package delivery vendors as needed for package pickups.
- Sorts, tracks, and distributes incoming mail to faculty, staff, administration, and law library.
- Sorts, tracks, and distributes incoming packages to faculty, staff, administration and law library.
- Notifies university warehouse of any capital assets that needs to be tagged for university asset control.
- Quarantines all incoming university assets until they are tagged for tracking.
- Locates proper addresses and makes correction for misdirected mail; forwards student mail.

- Contacts machine service providers when necessary.
- Delivers supplies to School of Law faculty, staff, and administration.
