The St. Helens, Oregon ceilings manufacturing facility of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., is currently hiring qualified Production Technicians . Our facility prides itself on our team environment, generous recognition programs, excellent safety record, compensation and opportunities for advancement.

All employees participate in a salary bonus program to help drive business outcomes and acknowledge employee contributions to our plant’s success. Our employees are expected and encouraged to share ideas for production and safety improvements.

General Duties:
Safe operation of forming, imaging and packaging machines
Routine maintenance
Computerized reporting of production data, statistical data use, and development of process and quality knowledge
Due to the continuous nature of our business, candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends (when necessary).

Possess High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends (when necessary) and overtime
Perform repetitive tasks for up to 30 minutes at a time
Move up to 50 lbs routinely
Ability to work up to 13 hours in a rolling 24 hour period
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and provide recommendations for action
Ability to work well in a team environment
Currently possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Word (creating and saving documents) and Excel (entering data into cells) software as determined by assessment quiz
Ability to pass basic comprehension assessments (NCRC Mathematics, Technology, Reading for Information and Locating Information)
Accurately use basic measuring devices
Follow written guidelines and procedures with accuracy
Communicate well with others
Read, write and perform basic math skills
Participate on project teams and/or safety committees
Must have transportation to and from work
Must have at least 6 months of manufacturing (or related) work experience. Examples could include: distribution/warehousing, military service, machine shop, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of consistent work history
Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
One or more years of direct manufacturing experience

About the Location:
Our St Helen's Plant, one of five Armstrong ceiling plants in North America, employs approximately 125 people in the manufacturing and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.
