It is the primary responsibility of the Labor Relations Partner to facilitate the intake processing, tracking, handling of fact finding and related hearing of issues, settlement of or preparation of grievances for arbitration through the contractually obligated dispute resolution channels. This position will provide advice and counsel to managers and HRBPs on the effective navigation of labor relations matters, application of collective bargaining agreement provisions and grievance handling that proactively addresses operational issues or concerns related to organized employee populations. The Labor Relations Partner is also responsible for tracking major labor related legislation in order to bring to the attention of the organization any potential significant adjustments to policies and procedures or programming that may be required. The position actively participates in the creation and delivery of proactive labor relations programming and in responding to specific challenges and/or charges from labor organizations that they are assigned to handle. The position is also responsible for analyzing data companywide to better manage and anticipate organizational wide grievance trends. The position supports property and corporate development and delivery of a broad range of labor relations strategies; participates in administration of collective bargaining agreements. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures. Act as subject matter expert on application, interpretation of intent, spirit and terms of collective bargaining agreement provisions for their business units. Serve as primary contact for the organization for grievance processing and handling. Oversee the administration of the collective bargaining agreement and foster a productive work relationship with union representatives. Administer and conduct meetings between grieving workers, supervisory and managerial personnel and labor union representatives to investigate and resolve grievances. Formulate potential avenues and settlement options to business units that assist in achieving business objectives or significantly mitigate potential liability based on extensive analysis and experience. Proactively communicate with Center of Excellence leadership about issues, concerns or proceedings that are of a potentially significant impact to the organization. Compile, analyze and maintain files regarding the handling of grievance/dispute resolution channels to include Step One, Board of Adjustment (BOA), Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and mediation. Work collaboratively with union partners, the Labor Strategy Department and property leadership to guide the timely and effective resolution of grievances and potential arbitrations to ensure consistency in decision making and outcomes to reduce potential liability for the organization. In collaboration with Labor Strategy, facilitate the creation of settlement agreements with Labor organizations to include Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) on behalf of the company. Build and maintain positive relationships with the various labor organizations, property leadership, and other key internal stake holders. Maintain accurate and complete database regarding grievances and arbitrations throughout the properties and corporate entities. Collaborate with key internal stake holders to formulate effective dispute resolution strategies and approaches that leverage the scope and scale of the organization holistically. Serve as a liaison to Corporate and outside labor attorneys on grievances and labor relations issues and serves as a Company representative in arbitration and legal proceedings as needed. Prepare statistical reports, using records of actions taken concerning grievances, arbitration and mediation cases, and related labor relations activities to identify problem areas. Collect, analyze and investigate labor relations policies and procedures used within the organization to determine alignment of process and approach across the organization. Participate in facilitating Labor Relations specific seminars and course deliverables to support the department initiatives concerning continual education and development of property and Corp LR/ER practitioners. Actively participate in conducting and representing the organization in the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the arbitration process. Participate as SME as needed on internal project teams relating to issues such as consolidation of functions and reorganization of functions where represented employees are impacted. Assist team members by contributing to projects when appropriate. Maintain a professional and confident demeanor when interacting with management, employees, union representatives, consultants and/or external communities. Perform other job related duties as requested. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, business administration, human resources or related field or equivalent experience and education. At least 5 years of human resources generalist or related experience with strong preference for specific experience in labor relations and dispute resolution processes. Excellent customer service skills. Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts. Professional appearance and demeanor. Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
