Position is generally scheduled 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday at the Workforce Center in Broomfield. This position is primarily assigned to Core Job Seeker Services but will assist in other program areas as necessary.

This position consists of administrative and technical work for the Workforce Center of the Broomfield Health and Human Services Department in the areas of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Wagner Peyser services. The incumbent will perform a variety of employment services duties within the Workforce Center related to training, assessment, referral, program information, case management, and employer outreach under the One-Stop concept. The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties:

General Duties:

Attend meetings, workshops, and conventions as necessary to keep advised of pertinent new rules, regulations, legislation, and procedures in the field. Develop professional contacts with other departments/divisions and other agencies.

Follow policies, procedures, and standards for efficient and effective operation and maintenance of operations. Keeps advised of the current status of the work of the department as well as of pertinent new rules, regulations, legislation, procedures, and professional developments.

Gather, assemble, and review information necessary to determine eligibility for program services. Provide vocational planning services to clients, interview program applicants, examine records and behavior, assess client employability, administer and interpret vocational tests, develop employability plan, develop training and job opportunities, and assist clients to resolve problems related to training and employment services. Assist clients in job search including making referrals and facilitating job placement. Compile data for special projects or reports, as assigned, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with established goals and objectives.

Operate a personal computer and utilize MS Office, Google Apps and other departmental software programs including Job Link System, CBMS, www.ConnectingColorado.com and employment websites. Operate a motor vehicle in order to attend offsite meetings and travel to various sites within and outside Broomfield.

Identify and recommend improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure functions are efficient and cost effective. Take proper safety procedures, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents. Use all required safety equipment. Perform related duties as required. Duties assigned may vary according to the specific needs of the program and/or the allocation of the workload.

Job Seeker Services (Performs the following additional duties):
Perform intake assessment, vocational assessment, career options review, resume critique and preparation, job development, teaching, test administration, program monitoring. Create, facilitate, and teach workshops and orientations, analyze and interpret aptitude tests, and perform outreach activities. Prepare a variety of operational reports on program service areas and develop brochures and class materials for workshops, training seminars, and general use. Some case management and the ability to establish rapport and relationships with individuals with barriers to employment including: poverty, incarceration, educational and / or disabilities. Flexibility and team commitment are necessary. Prefer experience in Social Work, Case Management, or Workforce Development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training – High school graduate or GED is required. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in human resources, public administration, or closely related field preferred.

Experience – Two years of progressively responsible related experience in the area of employment services, career counseling, job training, or human resources. Experience in a Colorado Workforce Center preferred.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. Bi-lingual skills including Spanish and mediation skills are an asset. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board; reference checks; background checks including police check, sex-offender registry check, and child support registry; driving check through DMV, and fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI.
