Qualifications/Duties:
Medical Staff Coordinator to work Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano

Minimum education:
High School graduate or GED required; Business school or some college preferred

Minimum experience:
Three years of medical staff services experience required; Previous credentialing experience preferred

License/certification:
Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Service is preferred (CPMSM or CPCS certification)
If not currently certified, may be asked to agree to become certified within three years

Required skills:
Basic medical terminology
Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Excellent computer (word processing and database management) skills.
Must work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Strong customer service skills desirable.
MSOW experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)
Processing the application (quantify)
Manages the appointment/reappointment process for designated service lines
Appropriate and timely completion of credential files
Maintains good working relationship with physicians, allied health and office staff to facilitate the credentialing process
Review and posts initial application into MSOW with three working days of receipt of application; completion of new application within 60 days of receipt
Generate 1st request letter within five working days of activation of application – non-receipt of paper privileges may be an exemption
Offer to all appropriate new applicants the option to have temporary privileges effective upon approval of Credentials Committee – files with issues are exempt
Process reappointment applications timely, to meet the 24 month regulatory requirements
Complete and accurate information in MSOW, including but not limited to demographic information, sponsors, specialty, licensure, verifications

Produces a complete, accurate and comprehensive credentials file
Maintains a good working relationship with medical staff department chairs to facilitate the credentialing process
Evaluates adequacy and quality of information received and pursues additional information necessary for complete, accurate and comprehensive credentials files. This includes, but is not limited to: standard credentials file requirements, CPOE training, write-in privileges, case lists/additional requirements obtained prior to chair review
All documentation supporting requested privileges is available at time of Department Chair review, including but not limited to case lists, training, education, certification, CME
Appropriate privilege cards are given to the correct specialist, i.e. most current and correct specialty as well as correct additional privilege card such as conscious sedation, da Vinci, wound care
Verify physician has requested admitting privileges as appropriate
Provides Department Chair with one-on-one assistance during monthly chair review
Assists Chairs in composing and preparing letters or memos for chair review process
BOT letters scanned into MSOW by the 10th days of the month

Support the activities of the Credentials Committee, Medical Board and board of Trustees
Coordination of materials, reports and agenda items for Credentials Committee
Responsible for the Credentials Committee minutes
