Performs routine (journey-level) licensing and permitting work. Work involves receiving, reviewing and data entering license and permit applications; ensuring compliance with applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes; communicating with external and internal customers; and approving licenses and permits. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Examples of Duties:

Receives, reviews, and processes license and permit applications and revisions in accordance with policies and procedures.
Inputs license and permit applications, payments, and required technical data into appropriate computer applications and systems.
Issues licenses and permits, collects and verifies licensing and permit fees, and reimburses fees to denied applicants.
Maintains records associated with license and permit applications, fee payments, and violations, and completes necessary forms to approve or deny licenses and permits.
Provides counter and telephone service to the general public; answers questions and explains licensing and permit code-related issues; and furnishes applicant with information concerning division operations or regulations, legal requirements, and rights, privileges and responsibilities.
Approves applications for licenses and permits based on state regulations, state codes, and agency policies and procedures.
Makes recommendations for denial of applications for licenses and permits based on state regulations, state codes, and agency policies and procedures.
Prepares correspondence, memos, and reports related to license and permit activities and compliance.
Performs related work as assigned.

General Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration or related field or an expected completion of degree by the end of the current semester. – OR-
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent and four years of work experience performing complex application processing and/or investigations. – OR-
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent and one year of TABC work experience exclusively performing application processing and investigations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures; and of applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes. Skills test may be administered at time of interview .
Skill in typing 40 wpm.
Skill in use of computers, PC's, and PC-based word processing software, preferably Microsoft Word. Skills test may be administered at time of interview .
Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Ability to interpret laws, agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to evaluate documents, conduct investigations and prepare concise reports.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission reserves the right to adjust compensation based upon legislative mandates in regards to TABC's and/or an employee's contribution to the Employees Retirement System.
