This position is responsible for the following:
Monitors and verifies all Initial, In-Progress & Final inspections for completeness and accuracy.
Reviews all Work Order Packets (DA FORM 5988E, DA FORM 2404, DA FORM 2407, DA FORM 2407-1) for completeness and accuracy.
Ensures that all initial Inspections are complete and parts are placed on order within three days of receiving inspection.
Monitors and verifies all Internal and External Rejections.
Ensures inspectors use the most current Technical Manual (TM), Technical Bulletin (TB), or Civilian maintenance publication for all Inspections.
Monitors and verifies all parts ordered through the Army Supply System and Local Purchase requisitions for accuracy. Ensures inspectors use correct User on Codes for all equipment.
Monitors and verifies that all Work Order Priority (02, 05 & 12) designations are adhered to.
Verifies all Inspector Tasking’s, Task codes, Man hours and Parts ordered on DA Form 2407 & DA FORM 2407-1 for accuracy and completeness before Work Order Packet goes to shops for repairs.
Monitors and verifies all Estimated Cost of Repairs (ECOR) and Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) for completeness and accuracy
Monitors and verifies all Modification Work Orders (MWOs), Safety of Use Messages (SOUMs) and Ground Precautionary Messages (GPMs) during initial inspection using Modification Management Information System (MMIS)
Monitors and verifies all Inspected equipment to ensure that Maintenance Expenditure Limit (MEL) procedures are adhered to using applicable Technical Bulletins, AR 750-1 and AR 58-1 for Nontactical Vehicles (NTVs)
Monitors and verifies all DA FORM 461-5 Vehicle Classification Inspections when equipment is deemed uneconomical to repair for completeness and accuracy and in accordance with AR 750-1
Monitors and verifies all Product Quality Deficiencies Reports for completeness and accuracy using Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP)
Monitors, verifies and assists Inspector troubleshooting.
Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild and maintain power equipment, such as US Army Combat and Tactical vehicles such as M1A2 tank, Bradley fighting vehicle, OSV vehicles, HMMWV's, and HEMTT's, cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and test overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
Monitors work of less experienced inspectors
Provides technical assistance in diagnosing problems beyond the capability of assigned personnel.
Maintain good housekeeping and a safe working environment.
Must be familiar with AR 750-1, ASC 550-1, AR 735-5, DA PAM 750-8, AR 58-1 and other Army Regulations applicable to maintenance services.
Must be familiar with Technical Manuals (TMs), MAC times, engineering standards, and regulatory standards.
Must be able to comply with state licensing requirements and local motor vehicle laws. Employees assigned to operate government‐owned or government-leased equipment must be certified as being fully qualified to operate the vehicles or equipment to which they are assigned. This position may require personnel to operate government-furnished vehicles or equipment, which will require a valid state driver's license or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
If welding is required, personnel must be certified in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS).
Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification may be required.
Lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds
Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment
Must be able to stand for at least two continuous hours
Must be able to work in cramped areas for at least two continuous hours
Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
A good working knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
An understanding of the needs of the organization serviced.
Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
Security Clearance :
Shall obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, if required.
Must be an U.S. citizen.
Licenses and Certifications :
Eligible for and be able to obtain a U.S. Government motor vehicle operator's permit for assigned class of vehicle.
