JOB SUMMARY:
The position is responsible for routing member/visitors in a highly professional manner, maintaining membership access control, answering the telephone, answering member questions and various clerical tasks as assigned. In training to become a Member Specialist.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 16 years old. At least 6 months previous receptionist, clerical or related experience is preferred. Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national and international movement preferred. Before access to Personal Health Information (PHI), group HIPAA training required. Within 90 days of hire, Foundations of Listen First and Intro to the Ys Cause and Culture trainings required. Within 6 months of hire, Get SMART training required. Within 1 year of hire, Living our Cause, Experience Storytelling, and Engaging with Families trainings required.

SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. At least 3 months personal computer and data entry knowledge preferred. Organizational skills and positive attitude required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to lift and carry up to 30 lbs in the form of boxes or supplies. Will be required to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on phone, typewriter, computer and other equipment. Receives and follows detailed instructions. Must be capable of remaining professional when dealing with members/customers and coworkers. Must possess auditory, visual and verbal abilities to communicate via phone and in person and to operate standard office equipment.

JOB DUTIES

1. Assist members and prospective members courteously. Performs miscellaneous tasks as directed and required.

A. Answers the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner.

B. Meets and greets members and visitors in a positive and professional manner as a representative of the YMCA; insures the security of the association enforcing policy regarding visitors and visitor log.

C. Performs routine filing, coping packets and fliers, and keep displays stocked.

D. Performs facility access control duties by checking members and program participants entering the building.

E. Controls the flow of checking in and out equipment (basketballs, headsets etc.)

F. Check in guest and/AWAY visitors.

G. Assist members with Lost and Found.

H. Assist member with photo re-takes.

I. In training to become a Membership Program Specialist.

J. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, main and clean facility and care for equipment.

K. Always be SMART about service.

Other duties:
A. Always wear YMCA staff shirt, name badge and appropriate attire.

B. Maintains clean and professional appearance for self and facility

C. Performs all other duties as assigned.
