Responsibilities

In this position the selectee serves as a member of a team established to perform on-going maintenance and repair of Coast Guard facilities including owned family housing units and unaccompanied personnel housing (barracks) in the area of responsibility which covers a geographic area from South Carolina to Puerto Rico.

Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Performing a variety of carpentry, plumbing, and some minor electrical and mechanical tasks.
  • Measuring, cutting, constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying simple frame structures, decks, partitions, shelves, doors, forms, siding, and scaffolding, etc.
  • Performing painting work that is assigned or reviewed by a higher graded employee or the supervisor.
  • Preparing surfaces for coating using standard techniques, methods, and tools.
  • Planning, measuring, and laying out carpentry materials using general knowledge of wood materials and substitutes and general woodworking techniques.
