Rehab Therapy Tech III: The Rehab Therapy Tech III, under the supervision and guidance of the Director of the Education and Rehabilitation Department or designee, will perform assistive rehabilitation work. Work involves assisting in the development, implementation, and execution, including use of encouragement and feedback to patients with approved behavior management techniques, of a planned and assigned program of rehabilitation. Will evaluate and document progress of individual patients and/or groups using all available resources; will maintain appropriate departmental and hospital documentation and records; will recommend changes in activities based on observations; may supervise work of volunteers; will perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. • Prepare and facilitate treatment focused classes / groups. (40%) • Assess patients assigned to groups / classes and document using approved discipline specific assessment note process. (10%) • Evaluate and document patient progress in facility / department approved records and formats. (10%) • Assist Registered Therapist or designee with the planning and implementation of specialized rehabilitative activities. (15%) • Communicate with treatment teams, formally and informally, patient treatment information as defined by the treatment plan, confidentiality, and HIPAA standards. (10%) • Attend and participate in required departmental meetings, training, and performance improvement activities and tasks. (5%) • Supervise volunteers as assigned. (5%) • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Principles of a recovery focus include: using person first language, encouraging participation in treatment, recognizing role of past trauma in care delivery, including peer support staff in treatment when possible, embracing wellness principles and modeling interactions that reflect trauma-informed care and empower patients to actively participate in their treatment. Demonstrates support for and participation in performance improvement efforts toward implementation of a recovery/trauma-informed care (TIC) treatment/recovery planning environment. Applies recovery/TIC principles to all interactions with other staff and treatment team members and supports the team in the ongoing implementation of best practices related to recovery. Specifically supports peer support team and peer support concepts.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
High school graduation, GED or proficiency evaluation of experience, plus eighteen (18) months of full-time experience assisting in therapeutic activities. Successful completion of therapist technician training program may substitute for six- (6) month’s experience. College work, which includes courses pertinent to rehabilitation therapy, may be substituted for experience on a basis of fifteen (15) hours for six (6) months.

Initial Selection Criteria:
1. Experience in a psychiatric setting (community or inpatient) and / or with special populations. 2. Experience in planning and documenting education / rehabilitation sessions. 3. Experience in process of evaluating persons' served progress in recovery and class / group instruction. 4. Generally a Monday thru Friday schedule, but may be needed to work other hours.
